DEC-221 is based on inductive measurement without electrodes, using a generator to produce an alternating magnetic field in the primary coil and inducing current in the medium. The strength of this induced current depends on conductivity, i.e., ion concentration in the medium. This induced current generates another magnetic field in the secondary coil. A receiver measures the induced current on the coils, thereby determining the conductivity of the medium. Additionally, it has built-in temperature sensors for automatic temperature compensation, making it suitable for long-term online monitoring of environmental conditions.
